SELF-HELP GROUPS
Paul Romeus was chosen as one of 4 people from Haiti to travel to Ethiopia in 2010 to see how Self Help Groups (SHG) work. People were formed into small groups to learn how to live and make some money in an impoverished setting, combining their meager funds and investing together. The principles they learned are simple Bible principles that teach selfless life and teamwork.
As he came home, he began to use the many contacts he has to train many leaders who would then go out and start these groups. It took a lot of work and commitment but slowly things have been built up and now there is a growing powerful interest. On June 30 a conference for encouragement and training was held in Limbe. Paul had expected 350 but 500 people came. The testimonies continue to show that people are learning how to get along with each other in a new way that has never been tried. There was a very positive encouraging spirit which is so different from the competitive, quarrelsome spirit that prevails in Haiti.

Paul began with teaching and training facilitators.

Small groups gather and share how things are going for them
and rejoice in the progress.
The village of Plaisance has 90 people are involved in 7 groups.
Please pray for Paul and the leaders involved so they may be able to train many more facilitators. The growth potential and impact of these groups is great! Also pray that the gospel would be interjected as there are many people who are not believers in these groups. Many Christians are also involved and this gives them an opportunity to give the Lord the praise for the good things that are happening.
